Unitarity of the Standard Model at the higgs’ resonance
We compute a unitarity bound for higgs mass using one–loop corrected s–wave partial amplitude for ZLZL → ZLZL scattering. We use the equivalence theorem and show that the higgs mass has to be less than ≈ 600 GeV in order to save the (perturbative) unitarity in the higgs’ resonance region. We also discuss about the validity of perturbation expansion in the symmetry breaking sector. 1 internet: s...
متن کاملHigh-energy Unitarity and the Standard Model *
High-energy unitarity is argued to select a special version of QCD as the strong interaction. Electroweak symmetry breaking has to be due to a new sextet quark sector-that will produce large cross-section effects at the LHC. The sextet sector embeds, uniquely, in a massless SU (5) theory that potentially generates the states and interactions of the Standard Model within a bound-state S-Matrix. ...
متن کاملFermions at unitarity and Haldane exclusion statistics
– We consider a gas of neutral fermionic atoms at ultra-low temperatures, with the attractive interaction tuned to Feshbach resonance. We calculate, the variation of the chemical potential and the energy per particle as a function of temperature by assuming the system to be an ideal gas obeying the Haldane-Wu fractional exclusion statistics. Our results for the untrapped gas compare favourably ...
متن کاملUnitarity at Infinity and Topological Holography
Recently it has been suggested that non-gaussian inflationary perturbations can be usefully analysed in terms of a putative dual gauge theory defined on the future conformal infinity generated by an accelerating cosmology. The problem is that unitarity of this gauge theory implies a strong constraint [the “Strominger bound”] on the matter fields in the bulk. We argue that the bound is just a re...
متن کاملHeavy-light fermion mixtures at unitarity.
We investigate fermion pairing in the unitary regime for a mass ratio corresponding to a ;{6}Li-;{40}K mixture using quantum Monte Carlo methods. The ground-state energy and the average light- and heavy-particle excitation spectrum for the unpolarized superfluid state are nearly independent of the mass ratio. In the majority light system, the polarized superfluid is close to the energy of a pha...
